But sometimes finances demand that you use that time to bring in a paycheck. Here are a few weekend gigs that might seem more like fun than work – but will still give you a boost in the money department.

Recreation Worker: Work at your local amusement park. Amusement parks are open year-round, and many parents choose to take their children during weekends. You can take advantage of that by taking a weekend job at your local amusement park. Whether you are manning the rides or dressing up as a character to tease the children, you will be having fun!

Theater Worker: The weekend is the time to gather up the family and see a great movie. Theaters are packed over the weekend, which is why they need more employees for those times. You can work on the weekends, serving as an usher or serving popcorn. The job is easy, you’re always meeting friendly people, and you get the first glimpse of new movies…for free!

On-Call Vet Tech: If you have experience with animals, you might look into becoming a veterinary technician. Many animal hospitals always need someone to take emergency calls on weekends, and you could do just that. It’s a steady paycheck, a door to a new career (should you ever choose that teaching isn’t for you), and most of all, it’s a way to help someone’s beloved pet in their worst moments.

Adult Education: Sadly, there are thousands of adults who never had the opportunity to learn how to read. Adult education tries to bridge that gap by pairing adult students with teachers who have a lot of patience, kindness, and understanding. Spend your weekends teaching adults how to read…and watch the joy in their eyes when they realize they just got it right! The financial rewards pale in comparison.

Hairdresser: Do you love to do creative work with your hands? Are you good with a pair of scissors? Do you have an eye for style? Work as a hairdresser! Weekends are busy times for those who cut hair, and someone who knows what they are doing is sure to find a good job. Most community colleges and beauty schools have classes that will fit your schedule, and you will be snipping away at those locks in no time.

There are many part-time job options out there, but not all are ideal for teachers. If you are in the market for supplemental income, here are some things to look for in the ideal part-time job for teachers.

First, you need something that is flexible. While your teaching career does mean that you have more time off than a typical worker, such as weekends and evenings and the summer, you do sometimes have commitments outside of your normal work hours. Programs, parent/teacher conferences, and seminars can all cut into your normal availability. You need a job that is somewhat flexible when it comes to the hours that you must put in. make sure your new employer knows that you are a teacher and may need to work around school programs and such when you schedule your hours. Having a part-time job with predictable hours that do not change much from week to week can help you plan your schedule.

You also need a low-stress job. Teaching, as rewarding as it may be, is also stressful. You are responsible for molding young minds, and that is a job that takes an emotional and often physical toll on you. Make sure you find a part-time job that feels as though it is a relief from your job teaching. For many teachers, tutoring is a great option, but for some it adds to their stress level, as it is so similar to teaching. Think about what relaxes you, and try to find a job in that field.

Similarly, choose a job that mirrors your interests or hobbies. Do you love to be outdoors? A summer job as a lifeguard or landscaper may be ideal. Are you particularly crafty? Perhaps you could make and sell something for a part-time income. Maybe you enjoy spending time online. There are many ways you can use that interest to earn money. be creative. If you can make money doing something you enjoy, it will be a stress relief for you.

Remember, teaching is your passion, and your part-time job should not detract from that passion in any way. Juggling two jobs is a challenge, but if you are an educator, you are probably already an expert at multi-tasking, so find something you enjoy doing, and start making that supplemental income today!

Your part-time job should be something that allows you to make money but gives you the chance to “decompress” from the pressures of the classroom. These part-time jobs might do the trick:

Cashier. Yes, cashiers are responsible for dealing with quite a bit of money. But in some big-box stores, everything a cashier does is automated, and most of the items can be scanned in. The job allows you to interact with the public, and if you love to meet new people, it can’t be beat. Working as a cashier takes your mind out of the classroom and allows you to focus on something else during your evening hours, while making a good paycheck.

Janitorial Services. Many people love to clean. They like to strap on an iPod or radio headphones while they mop floors, dust offices, and dump trash cans. Working as a janitor for a big office building allows you privacy to work, time to reflect on things that might be bothering you, and a chance to relieve stress while you wield that mop on the floors. For those who find cleaning soothing, it’s the perfect part-time job.

Animal Care / Kennel Care. Nothing says “de-stress” like the cuddle of a furry, trusting animal. Working at an emergency vet clinic or an all-night animal care hospital will allow you the opportunity to take care of those who need it the most. Running a kennel operation allows you to meet new animals who need your care, and gives you a good paycheck from owners who will be relieved to know their pets are in such good hands.

Security Guard. Some security jobs are high stress and require intense dedication…but there are some security jobs that are little more than pushing a button to let a vehicle into a gate, or checking IDs of people who come in and out of a building. Working as a security guard can give you the time you need to decompress and think about something else for a while – and that’s a good thing when you’re in a stressful position during the day.

Dog Walker. Working as a dog walker is actually good for you, and brings in good money at the same time. Walking dogs while their owners are out is an opportunity to great exercise, as well as a way to get to know your neighborhood better.

Whatever you choose for a part-time job, make sure you opt for something that takes away from the stress in your life. After all, who needs more stress along with their paycheck?

If you were on the fence about looking for a Summer Job, there is no better time than right now. The global economy is changing and rapidly. One of the safest and easiest places to earn some extra money is online. Earning money online comes in many forms and many methods, but one thing rings true, there is a way for EVERYONE to earn some extra money online.

Perhaps the easiest way to earn extra money online is to simply fill out surveys. What could be easier than giving somebody your opinion for a little extra money. If you are creative at photography you could try earning a few extra bucks selling microstock photos. iStockphoto will sell your microstock photos for you after getting your account verified and is tops in the industry for selling microstock photos.

Creating websites or blogs to earn extra money is getting easier and more user friendly all the time. Whatever your special skill set is, there is no reason to not get online and earn some extra money. Work on setting up your online business this summer and earn money all year round!

However, if online work is not your thing, you could always work up in Alaska in Denali. Click here for details.

Each year the seasonal job market gets flooded with applicants around May. By then, many of the best jobs are already taken. Many employers like to know well in advance that they have their staffing requirements met before the summer job season begins. The end of March or beginning of April is a perfect time to get out and make those contacts. For some it will be picking up an application and filling it out. For others it will mean picking up the phone and calling a few old friends. Perhaps all you will need to do is call the people you worked for last year.

No matter what your situation is, get out and try to get something setup early. It will make your life less stressful and also make it a lot less stressful for your new summer job employer.

Do you like to get to know people? Are you good with kids, with the elderly, or simply with your peers? Are you someone people trust and love to talk with? Then the following summer or weekend jobs might be just your cup of tea.

Telemarketing. Working as a telemarketer can be a tough job, but you can usually set your own hours and make the money you want to make, depending on how often you choose to work. For every person that hangs up on you, there will be someone ready and willing to listen – and you will have ample opportunity to strut your sales skills.

Customer Service. Want to help people with products or services they have already purchased, or help them make a selection that is perfect for their needs? Working as a customer service representative gives you the chance to help people solve their problems with a simple phone call. You will be on the receiving end of a few very grateful customers!

Public Relations. Is there a cause you believe in and want to work for? Working as a public relations liaison might be the perfect job for you. You can sign up for a summer or a weekend job, or even fit in your work during the evenings. Your primary goal will be to show others how great this place, organization, or opportunity can be.

Online Tutoring. Want to help students who need some extra time? Work as an online tutor. You will have the advantage of one-on-one work, something that is rare in a large classroom setting, and you will also have the good feeling of helping someone rise to their full potential. You will also get paid for it – a bonus anyone can appreciate!

Counseling. Do you find that you always have the right thing to say? Do you want to give back to your community and those who need a helping hand? Consider working for a counseling service. You can choose to work for the online or phone service and work with the organization to set hours that are convenient for you. Your listening ear might be all someone needs to get their life back on track – and wouldn’t it feel great to be the one who gave it to them?

Here are a few more job ideas that might be ideal for your summertime paycheck.

Seasonal Work at State Parks. When the sun beats down, residents come out to play at the various state parks throughout the country. State parks hire temporary workers for summertime jobs, with the understanding that when school is back in full swing, those workers will be on hiatus until the next summer rolls around. Seasonal work at state parks comes with the added bonus of a state paycheck, so you know how much you will be paid, and you will always be paid on time.

Swimming Instructor. When swimming pools open, children are ready to learn – and you can teach them! Spend your summers in the water as you teach children and adults alike to swim. You can teach beginning or advanced courses, depending upon your own expertise. If you have experience as a lifeguard, that’s a big plus for landing the best job. You can even go private and teach lessons in your own backyard, if you have a pool that is big enough to accommodate a class.

Camp Counselor. Let your love of teaching spill over into your summertime work by becoming a camp counselor. You will teach a different kind of classroom during the summer, and instead of teaching the ABCs and 123s, you will be showing students how to use outdoorsman skills to make the most of their summer. Take a walk on the wild side, get some great time outside, and go back to school in the fall with a refreshed and renewed outlook.

Summertime Food Programs. It’s a sad fact of today’s society – sometimes, children only get one full meal every day, and that’s the one they eat at school. Summertime food programs seek to bridge that gap by offering lunches and dinners to children in impoverished areas. Join up with one of the programs and help those who need it the most. Sometimes the pay is a stipend, which is much less than what you would earn hourly, but the comfort of a job well done might be worth the difference.

Pool Party Supplies and Sales. What is summer without a pool? When it’s time to get ready for the summertime, pool stores do a booming business. If you are involved in supplies and sales, you can bet your summer will be busy. You can also join up in the party business and be responsible for taking inflatables, temporary pools, and other party supplies to various locations. It’s fun in the sun, but a new place every week! How cool is that during the hot days of summertime?

If you find that your teacher’s salary is not adequate to cover your expenses, you may want to find a job through the summer. While you probably want to rest as much as possible during those three months that you have off, you can find work if you need it. You simply need to know where to look for seasonal summer jobs.

One option you can take is to work with your local YMCA or community center to teach classes. Fitness, art, and hobby classes are often held throughout the summer, and if you have the experience necessary to teach them, this can bring in some extra income. Keep in mind that some of these positions are volunteer positions, so make sure you are applying for a position that pays.

Similarly, places that offer summer day camp programs often hire teachers. If you do not mind hanging out with kids all summer as you do during the school year, you can get a job with one of these day camps. The benefit of working in a day camp setting is that the job coincides with your break. When you need to be back in the classroom, so do the kids that you are watching.

Consider contacting your local library to see if they have any spots that they need filled in the summer. You may find that there is room for you to handle story time or do some classes during the summer. This may be a more challenging area to get into, though, because the library will often hire high school and college students to fill in those summer gaps.

Talk to your school about summer school or tutoring opportunities. Many teachers can work a few extra weeks in the summer for summer school and make a decent amount of money. This will still give you some time off before you jump in for the next school year.

Believe it or not, you can make good money delivering pizzas. This work is in the evenings, and if you can get scheduled for busy nights, you can make up to $20 per hour when you add in your tips. This is relaxing work, provided you like to drive, and you can work part time and still make a decent amount of money.

If you cannot find employment through these venues, consider talking to a local temporary employment agency. You may be able to find a secretarial position to take you through the summer. Since jobs through temp agencies are rarely full time, you will have no trouble leaving when it is time to get back in the classroom.

Now you have a whole summer to yourself, but you need some extra cash coming in to make ends meet. What’s the best summer job for teachers, no matter what your teaching experience?

Look for online jobs for teachers!

The world of online business is booming, and you have the opportunity to create a nice niche for yourself while making enough money to fill your bank account during those lean summer months. But why stop there? Since online work can be very flexible, you could do it in your spare time – on weekends and during the eveings, even when the school year is in full swing.

What jobs can you find online?

If you love to write, there are hundreds of websites that need articles and are willing to pay for them. Many college professors would love having a dedicated researcher to do all the legwork in finding information for their journal papers. If you love to blog about current events, why not find a job that allows you to do that? Perhaps your local news station has a website and could use your assistance.

Speaking of websites, if you are good with web design, you might have a very lucrative side career in creating websites for others. If code is something you love and you can design layouts in your sleep, consider putting up ads on your craigslist or other freelance forums and get your work out there!

If you have experience with legal or medical transcription, look into the job possibilities for working at home. All you need is a good internet connection, a reliable computer and a plan set in place with your new employer. You can make a lot of money this way, and you can do it all from the comfort of your own home.

Work for an online tuturing service. Many college students are always looking for some extra help, and primary or secondary school students might need some tutoring to avoid summer school. You can fill in that need by tuturing your pupils online. Tutoring services are always looking for a few good teachers, or you can go it on your own and tutor on a ‘freelance’ basis.

Have you ever considered art design? If you’re fantastic with a pen (or a mouse) and you know how to create captivating images, working part-time for a publishing house might wind up putting your art on the cover of a best-selling novel. Artwork for websites is always popular, and if you are an excellent illustrator, all the better! You could find yourself doing everything from cartoons to illustrations for children’s books. Your imagination is the only limit!

If you are currently in the classroom but find that you do not have enough money to make ends meet, it is time to start looking for a part time job.
